What's On The Menu? Daisy Hill Hospital
Most patients at Daisy Hill Hospital say that the hospital's food provides the kind of meals they like, according to a report launched recently by the Southern Health & Social Services Council (SHSSC). 90% of the survey respondents that that they always got the food that they ordered and 29% felt that the catering service was excellent.

What's On The Menu? Craigavon Area Hospital
Most patients at Craigavon Hospital say that the hospital's food provides the kind of meals they like, according to a report launched recently by the Southern Health & Social Services Council (SHSSC). However, 33% believed that they did not always get the meal that they had ordered. More worryingly 7% of patients who needed help to feed did not feel that this was always recognised or addressed.

At its recent monthly meeting the Southern Health and Social Council elected Mrs Eileen Wright to serve as its Chairman for the period ending 31 March 2009. As Chairman she takes on responsibility for leading the Council in its task of representing the interests of patients and users of health and social care services in the Southern Board’s area during the transition to the new post-RPA Body. Mrs Wright has served as a member of the Council since September 2003 and has represented the Council on number of committees and sub groups.

Craigavon Area Hospital Car Parking
An accident waiting to happen was the verdict on the current car parking arrangements at Craigavon Area Hospital voiced during the April meeting of the health 'watchdog' the Southern Health & Social Services Council. The meeting discussed how the lack of available parking spaces has led to parking on the approach road to the hospital as well as elderly and unwell people having to walk considerable distances from their car to the hospital entrance.

Daisy Hill Hospital Car Parking
Daisy Hill Hospital's car parking problems were raised at the April meeting of the health 'watchdog', the Southern Health & Social Services Council. The SHSSC meeting was attended by Mr Colm Donaghy, Chief Executive of the Southern Health & Social Services Trust and Mrs Anne Balmer, Chairman of the Southern Health & Social Services Trust, who provided an update on the Trust's work including proposed measures to improve parking at the acute hospitals.

NHS Dental Registration
Only 1 in 10 dental practices in the Southern Area are registering fee paying adult NHS patients, according to a survey undertaken by the 'watchdog' body, the Southern Health & Social Services Council (SHSSC). They are so concerned about the difficulty of getting an NHS dentist that they are urging the public to make sure their dental registration is up to date.

Health Council Meets MLAs
The launch of the Southern Health & Social Services Council's (SHSSC's) annual review took place recently in the Long Gallery at Stormont in the presence of MLAs representing the Southern area. The event provided an opportunity for the SHSSC to make MLAs aware of the current concerns of the 'health watchdog' and to urge for a close working relationship between the SHSSC and elected representatives.
